Was cool to be able to attend this forum and met some really cool people. Speakers were amazing with vast experiences to share.. though there were some elements of ’selling’ involved but was still quite cool to get to see some of the new start-ups and products of adobe and microsoft etc (e.g. flexbook). Jeremiah had a pretty good debate going on about the relevance of corporate websites which can be found on his blog.

Lynda had a much more personal talk (contrast with the male speakers) where she brings in photos of her dogs, talks about her life, childhood, things she’s excited about etc. I’ll be excited to get her in to Bluestocking, be it part of the community, advisor or even mentor for all the aspiring ladies. Just based on our short conversation, i can tell that she’s really sharp and kudos for getting the master prog in digital media going as well as being an entrepreneur who helps many startups to grow at New Media BC. amazing! makes me believe that it is not that impossible to multi-task (research proves that females are better at multi-task than males) and realise your dreams.. live the way you want to live! Hopefully Bluestocking will be able to enable women to realise their dreams!

She mentioned about starting early, going to high schools and talking to kids, providing a role model and creating an image of a lifestyle that is not impossible for them to pursue. could you imagine if a kid tells you that her aspiration is to be a web-developer? or entrepreneur? seriously, that’s more variety than the norms of teacher, nurse, fireman, policeman etc? we should bring in these seemingly unfamiliar terms to them yeah? after all, i’ve already seen a kid (nothing more than 10 years old) playing mobile phone games on a mobile phone that is actually more advanced than his dad! talk about early adopters of technology! and yes, there’s the maple story fans.. wouldn’t be surprised if the kids start to sell their toys on ebay themselves! =) introduce them to some business concepts yeah? how to sell your product, marketing, pricing and all huh? cool! wished i had that when i was young!

Bluestocking just got a twitter profile:  http://twitter.com/bluestocking and an email add: bluestockin@gmail.com. really looking forward to gain more momentum and make it a fun community! looking for ideas of having something fun for the Bluestocking ladies sometime in jul, before the uni ladies head back to school. hopefully can get some cool ladies to get it going too. how do you get pple excited and work towards building a community together?

met some of the regular TDM community (cool how much traction they have gained and the energy to keep on doing it). impressed. there’s a grp of cool peeps plugged into the network and each of them have some cool stuff going.. the E27 gang is all busy working on their startups and the TDM gang building their online communities and critical mass.. perhaps start a mob following.. what will the Bluestocking ladies be working on then? was brainstorming for some mantra for the group and came up with: Injecting E-strogen into Entrepreneurship and tEchnology! which is way too long. hopefully the facebook grp can come out with some ideas~ glad that we have quite a group of male support (Tom Kosnik, Bjorn, Coleman, Sian Liu etc) so far. pretty encouraging. just need more activity on the ladies side! =) look out for more happenings!

Yup, I felt that some speakers were hawking their products too, I tried to avoid doing that and try to add value. If not, you wont’ rate me very high and I won’t be invited back. Thanks for the link.

Hi

What do you think about this? When it happens?
