Thanks to TDM, we got to get up close and personal with Vinton G. Cerf, chief internet evangelist of google. amazing google event. in fact, it will be great if we can connect the google females or other inspiring females with the female community too. I read that females seem to have a more unique experience and calling (which is why career guidance books etc are customised for females). It might well be true that every woman needs an Oprah. Connecting someone like her from the tech space will be great inspiration to the many females who haven’t quite find their footing in the tech space. I thought that Vinton’s 2035 prediction should also mention about the increase female involvement from coding to design to e-businesses of the scale of google. Where is the female mark zuckerberg?
Vinton is truly inspiring and interesting. He was really engaging and had no qualms to talk about his personal life, he and his wife’s health conditions etc. Despite the many awards and accolades he earned (latest was Japan award akin to Japanese Nobel Prize), he came across as a sincere man open to share and impart knowledge without arrogance and air. I still really like the google working style and the flexibility of google employees like Vinton and Larry Brilliant. Interesting fragmented organisation that holds together tight. It’s almost like a cult (alike to apple) where people are united in their vision of ‘Don’t be evil’. Investment in corporate philanthropy does pay off in attracting investors, talented employees, brand loyalty as google has proven. Coupled with the visionary leaders and sound management, it is hard not to like them despite the privacy wars waged against them.
Was going through the Time 100 – most influential people in the world list. Many interesting individuals where each of them are driven by their vision of the world, unafraid of the risks and dangers they may even impose on themselves for the greater good of mankind. There are many inspiring individuals in the world and your actions are the only echoes of inspiration. Do your part to make a difference to the world! =)
